Megalights has been nothing short of a true game-changer for our environment creation process, jokingly (but truthfully) referred to by us as "Nanite for Lighting".
My main tasks for this demo as Senior Environment Artist obviously involved setdressing and level design. But due to our need to be able to move quickly and work loosely, I was also responsible for custom Master Mat / Shader solutions ranging from general material functions setup to fully custom solutions for dynamically weathered architecture and atomic assets, basic FX, texture calibration / lookdev, custom asset creation and a re-texturing pipeline specifically for our scanned metallics. It was an honor and a blast diving into new techy-artsy challenges alongside Principal TA Nathaniel Morgen on this one!
Last but not least, since all of us touched pretty much every pixel on screen in equal amounts, we also shared work on sequencer animation and lighting. Honestly, the lines of job description truly blurred on this project, everybody jumped on everything to get his out of the door :D
As already stated above, I can't possibly talk about any of the work done here without also mentioning the amazing colleagues, friends and industry legends I got to work with on this demo. Every single pixel is the result of an incredible team effort from fantastic artists, uber-skilled tech-artists, absolutely insane engineers and a kick-ass production team, and they are the reason we managed to pull off this project in absolute record time:
